Nydelis Ortiz had her dream come true on November 1, 2009 when she proudly represented her town at the Miss Vermont USA pageant at the Sheraton Burlington and was crowned the new Miss Vermont USA 2010. The twenty year old college student is thrilled to represent her state at the nationally televised Miss USA 2010 pageant. Nydelis is eagerly looking forward to volunteering for organizations close to her heart and hopes to focus on educating others on homelessness throughout her state and country.

The Castleton State College senior is double majoring in Spanish for Business and Spanish Language and Literature with a minor in business administration. Moving to Vermont at the age of six, the Puerto Rico native is more than proud to call Vermont her home for the past fourteen years. Nydelis immensely enjoys partaking in the vast activities the state has to offer, including hiking, kayaking, and swimming. The avid lover of the outdoors also enjoys keeping active with a good workout at the gym, a run outside, or even a game of football.

This ambitious young woman graduated from high school at the age of sixteen and will graduate from college, receiving two bachelor’s degrees, at the age of twenty. Nydelis has interned at the Department of Homeland Security and one day hopes to be the owner of a business. Some of her hobbies include playing the violin, learning to play other instruments, watching movies with family and friends, and reading.
